The evocative Ferrari 156 F1 Sharknose, so called due to its unusual front air vents, was Ferrari’s first Formula One machine with the engine positioned behind the driver.
The result of a brief given by Ferrari to new Technical Director, Carlo Chiti with the clear instruction to create a car capable of winning the Formula One World Championship for the Scuderia under new, downsized 1.5 litre engine regulations, the Sharknose did not disappoint.
So successful was the little Sharknose that it won the first five out of seven races in the Championship, including a 1-2-3-4 finish at Spa.
Our beautiful 1:8 scale replica captures every detail of this beautifully engineered Ferrari masterpiece, with fully detailed rear engine and front chassis areas accessible via the removable covers.
We worked closely with Ferrari to develop this model and had the great opportunity to view historic documents and photos from the Ferrari archive.
