Ferrari California T

Preserving the distinguished qualities of every California model since the 1950s, the California T embodied versatility, sportiness, exclusivity and sublime elegance within classic Ferrari proportions. Its classic shape was accompanied by flanks whose shapes were inspired by the 250 Testa Rossa’s famous pontoon-fender styling that brought an aerodynamic sleekness and movement to the sides.

The California T was a remarkably compact car that allowed for increased sporty handling dynamics while ensuring it maintained a generous amount of cabin space. It was able to achieve near perfect weight distribution through its transaxle architecture, still preserving Ferrari’s traditional slight bias to the heavy rear (47% front, 53% rear). The car’s centre of gravity was improved by its engine’s location in the chassis being 40 mm lower than its predecessor, further enhancing the car’s handling. Ferrari utilized aluminium as a lightweight solution for both the chassis and bodyshell due to its high torsional rigidity, an important factor for a drop-top car, improving its performance and safety.

Powered by the turbocharged 3855 V8, the California T could punch out 560 CV (145 CV/l, the best figure in its category), and had a maximum torque of 755 Nm in 7th gear. With an impressive performance of 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in 3.6 second, its fuel consumption fell by 15% in comparison to previous models, despite delivering an extra 70 CV and a massive 49% more torque. Turbo lag was virtually eliminated by cutting overall mass and inertia alongside the use of the F1-derived flat-plane crankshaft and innovative twin-scroll turbines. It was through its clever design and manufacturing techniques that the car produced the classically powerful, exhilarating Ferrari soundtrack.

Thanks to reduced steering wheel activity and improved responsiveness to drivers’ inputs, the California T boasted a true sports car dynamic with a new steering box and mechanical set-up. The car’s electronic systems were also state-of-the-art, with the latest evolution of the F1-Trac and ESP 8.0 Premium integrated with the CCM3 braking system to manage the high-performance ABS. The sleek bonnet emphasised the muscular wings on either side, which incorporated the headlights and the two distinctive vents used to dissipate hot air from the engine. A generous grille lent the car an aura of power and sportiness. The rear featured new horizontal styling elements and was subject to intensive aerodynamic honing, resulting in a new triple-fence diffuser.

The cabin of the California T was a seamless blend of innovative, streamlined and functional forms. The car maintained a classic Ferrari feel courtesy of certain Prancing Horse styling cues, such as the multi-functional steering wheel, round air vents, division between the dash and tunnel and the tunnel’s signature F1 bridge. The California T was an elegant hand-crafted package that focused on sophisticated materials and finishes whilst also ensuring superb functionality.

This fine 1:18 scale model of the Ferrari California T has been handcrafted and finished in our workshops using detailed colour and material specifications, and original CAD data supplied directly from the drawing office of Ferrari. Furthermore, it has undergone detailed scrutiny by both engineering and design teams to ensure complete accuracy of representation. Every Amalgam 1:18 scale model is supplied in a luxury black box with a protective outer carrying sleeve. Each model is mounted on a polished black acrylic base protected by a clear acrylic dust cover. The base holds a booklet containing the certificate of authenticity along with information and collateral material about the car. The model title and original branding is displayed on a polished stainless steel plaque mounted at the front end of the base.
