Models in development at 1:8 scale
We are thrilled to offer a very special edition of ten Race Weathered Porsche 917Ks at 1:8 scale, showing the car with every detail of the battle scars and race dirt it accumulated, as it was raced to victory by Pedro Rodriguez and Jackie Oliver at the 24 Hours of Daytona on the 30th and 31st of January 1971. This unique and very limited edition has been meticulously hand-painted and detailed by our master model makers here in Bristol and the first model is now available to order on our website.
The next batch of models is anticipated to be finished in Q4, and these will be available either clean or weathered, depending on customer preference.
Each 1:8 scale model will measure over 51 cms/20 inches long and will be accompanied by an archive quality Giclée print of the car mid-race, selected by Amalgam from the Motorsport Images Collection.
These models will represent the victorious #2 car driven by Pedro Rodríguez and Jackie Oliver in the 24 Hours of Daytona on January 31, 1971. After experiencing mechanical difficulties while leading in the early stages of the race, the team executed a remarkable transmission repair in just 92 minutes, allowing Rodríguez to return to the track and eventually climb to second place before reclaiming the lead with just 33 minutes left, finishing the race a lap ahead of their closest competitor. The duo’s victory contributed to Porsche’s maximum points haul in the season’s World Sportscar Championship, as they dominantly won both the International Championship for Makes and International Cup for GT Cars for the third successive year.
