McLaren MP4/4 - 1988 Japanese Grand Prix - Race-Weathered
A unique one-off race-weathered model of the McLaren MP4/4 in which Ayrton Senna won the 1988 Japanese GP.
Winning 15 out of 16 races, the MP4/4 totally dominated the 1988 season for McLaren. This special race weathered model is of the car as it finished the Japanese Grand Prix bringing the race and championship victories to Ayrton Senna.
This unique model has been meticulously hand-painted and detailed by Leo Copeman to show every detail of the subtle race dirt and tyre wear the car had accumulated by the end of the Grand Prix. The artistry applied to this one-of model underlines our commitment to creating beautiful hand-made pieces which fully capture both the spirit and precise appearance of iconic race cars. The base model was developed using data from a meticulous digital scan of the original car now on display at the McLaren Technology Centre. The resulting prototype underwent strict scrutiny by McLaren’s archive team to ensure complete accuracy of the model.
This unique model of the MP4/4 is accompanied by an A1 sized original photograph of the car in the garage at the Japanese GP in 1988. This is a high resolution Gicle print on archive quality paper.
