McLaren M23D - 1976 Japanese Grand Prix - Race Weathered
LIMITED EDITION OF 3 RACE WEATHERED 1976 MCLAREN M23D MODELS WITH ARCHIVE PRINT - SOLD OUT
We are proud to present just three pieces of the M23D driven by James Hunt, modelled precisely on the car at the moment Hunt left the pits following a front left tyre blow out late in the race that looked as if it would deny him the 1976 championship.
This unique edition of only three models has been meticulously hand-painted and detailed by Nathan Stockill to show every detail of the race dirt and the damage that the car sustained following the tyre blow out. Each of the three models is accompanied by an archive quality Giclée print of the car at that precise moment, selected by the curator at Motorsport Images.
The artistry applied to these three models underlines our commitment to creating beautiful hand-made pieces which fully capture both the spirit and precise appearance of iconic race cars. The base model was developed using data from a meticulous digital scan of the original car now on display at the McLaren Technology Centre. The resulting prototype underwent strict scrutiny by McLaren’s archive team to ensure complete accuracy of the model.
