McLaren MP4-24 - 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix - Hamilton
2009 marked the beginning of a very new Formula One, with a raft of new technical rules having been introduced. Piloted by Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton, the McLaren now featured heavily revised bodywork, very different-looking rear and front wings and a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS). 2009 also saw the much-lauded return of slick tyres.
During a three-week gap between the German and Hungarian rounds, the MP4-24s were upgraded to a new specification. In Hungary, both drivers enjoyed a good qualifying, with Hamilton qualifying fourth and Kovalainen sixth. Hamilton then went on to win the race in a very convincing fashion, causing widespread acclaim in the media. McLaren went on to claim third place in the Constructors’ Championship that season.
This fine 1:8 scale model of the McLaren MP4/24 has been handcrafted and finished in our workshops using detailed colour and material specifications, and original CAD data supplied directly from the drawing office of McLaren. Furthermore, it has undergone detailed scrutiny by both engineering and design teams to ensure complete accuracy of representation.
