Historic Race
Maserati 250F
At 1:8 scale
One of the most iconic post-war race cars, piloted by Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss, two giants of motor racing’s iconography, the 250F’s life spanned a golden era of Grand Prix racing. Debuting in 1954, the 250F was still battling hard against the new rear engine cars into 1960. Having been granted access to digitally scan a significant original Maserati 250F towards the end of 2021, we are now close to reaching the prototype stage in the development of a deeply detailed model with opening engine cover. This model will precisely capture the details of the car that was raced to a legendary victory by Fangio at the Nürburgring in 1957. We expect to have the first 1:8 scale models ready for delivery to customers towards the middle of 2023.

Bugatti Type 59
At 1:18 scale
The existing model of this extraordinary car at 1:8 scale is one of our most complex and beautiful creations. Now we are developing the Bugatti Type 59 at 1:18 scale to sit alongside its bigger brother. A supremely accurate 1:18 scale replica of the car raced by Tazio Nuvolari at the Monaco Grand Prix on the 2nd of April 1934, the model is being created using digital scan data taken from an important example of the Type 59, with race specific details sourced from archive photographs and respected Bugatti experts. The first finished models are scheduled for dispatch to customers around mid-2023.
Mercedes W196 Monoposto Weathered
At 1:8 scale
We are excited to present a new Race Weathered edition at 1:8 scale of the Mercedes-Benz W196 Monoposto. The model is a precise replica of the car raced by the great Juan Manuel Fangio in the British Grand Prix in July 1955. This exclusive edition consists of just five models, each of which will be meticulously hand-painted by the artisans in our Bristol workshop to exhibit every detail of race dirt and oil stains that adorned the car as Fangio secured his third World Championship title. Every model will also be accompanied by an archive quality Giclée print of the car mid-corner, selected by Amalgam from the Motorsport Images collection. Models will be weathered to order and 'clean' models are now available to begin this process.
Ferrari 250 TR Weathered
At 1:8 scale
A further Race Weathered project in the works is that of the Ferrari 250 TR as raced to victory by Olivier Gendebien and Phil Hill at the 1958 edition of Le Mans. Limited to just 14 pieces, the first model is already with the artisans in our Bristol workshop, having been ordered by an excited client. Further models will be weathered to order. As with every Race Weathered model we deliver, each will also be accompanied by an archive quality Giclée print of the car, selected by Amalgam from the Motorsport Images collection. Sculptures
Coming from collaborations with world leading architects and designers in its early years, Amalgam has always brought an artistic focus to the work of interpreting iconic cars into scale models. That passion has now led us towards creating partnerships with sculptors and artists, taking the work we offer to our clients and customers in new and exciting directions. Our collaboration with Remco de Reus continues to grow and diversify, with sculpts for teams, brands and collectors at various scales. In addition to several new creations at different scales for significant brands that will be gifted to owners, we will be launching two perfect little motorsport creations for teams, sponsors and collectors. Beautifully designed and cast in metal, these little pieces are instantly lovable, and continue to grow on you over time.

Alan Thornton Prints
The foundation of our approach to making fine models is a passion for capturing the essence of the real car in both detail and spirit. In that context our growing collaboration with Artist Alan Thornton makes perfect sense. Alan’s work is technically complex, refined, and utterly authentic.
Alan’s refined technique extracts both the essence and the fine detail of the subject car, concentrating it into a powerful rendition. Our growing collaboration with Alan alongside our strong partnerships with Teams and iconic marques, will enable the creation of a flow of exciting new work this year, starting with a collection of Aston Martin prints. Shooting of the DB5 has already taken place and the prints will be available to purchase from February 2023. The jewel in the crown of the Aston Martin collection will be limited edition prints of the Valkyrie to follow the DB5.
