Stoffel Vandoorne
FIA Formula E World Champion
Stoffel Vandoorne, Mercedes-EQ driver in Formula E and Mercedes-AMG Reserve Driver for Formula 1, secured his first World Championship title after a second-place finish in the final race of the season, which happened to be Formula E’s 100th. An entertaining season saw nine different winners from seven of the ten teams in 16 races and, though he won just a single race, Vandoorne's consistency and reliability compared to his rivals ensured he finished a convincing 33 points ahead of his closest rival. The Belgian racer, and his Dutch teammate and reigning champion Nyck de Vries, also wrapped up a consecutive double-Championship for Mercedes-EQ in what was their final race in Formula E. The team is now changing hands to become Neom McLaren.
We have modelled Vandoorne's cars from his two previous seasons with the Mercedes EQ Formula E Team, in which he has celebrated wins in Berlin and Rome. We offer Stoffel our congratulations, and our commiserations must go to his title rivals Mitch Evans of Jaguar TCS Racing and Edoardo Mortara of Rokit Venturi Racing. Without them, there would not have been a title fight.
