With Zandvoort hosting the first Formula 1 GP this weekend after a 36-year absence, our customer in the Netherlands has just been delivered a specially built model of James Hunt’s McLaren M23D, exactly as it crossed the line at the 1976 Dutch Grand Prix.
In 1976, as a very young man at his first ever F1 race, he was standing in the crowd on the banking you can see in the picture he is holding up next to the model. We are so pleased to have had the opportunity to capture this significant moment for him, modelling every detail of the car, including the grime that adorned it crossing the finish line.
