Exciting plans for 2022
The coming year is set to be an outstanding one for Amalgam, with an abundance of exciting models programmed for development and launch in 2022.
Below we share our most recent news and models scheduled for 2022, and shed some light on a few of the secret projects that we are currently working on behind the scenes. It’s a more substantial and exciting launch plan than ever before!
Classic Race
Maserati 250F: At 1:8 scale
One of the most iconic post-war race cars, raced by two of the greats in Grand Prix history, Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss. Moss started his F1 career in a privateer 250F, whilst Fangio took his fifth and final title with the Maserati works team in 1957. The 250F’s life spanned a golden though often difficult and dangerous era of Grand Prix racing, debuting in 1954 and still battling hard in 1960. We have recently digitally scanned and photographed a significant original Maserati 250F and have now began the process of developing a fully detailed model of the car that was raced to an astonishing victory by Fangio at the Nurburgring in 1957. The first 1:8 scale models will be ready for delivery towards the end of 2022.

Porsche 917: At 1:18 scale
We are pleased to let you know that models in the first two batches of our 1971 Le Mans winning Porsche 917 models at 1:18 scale are now available to pre-order. Based on the #22 car driven to victory by Dutch driver Gijs van Lennep and Austrian racer Helmut Marko at Circuit de la Sarthe, the Team Martini Porsche finished two laps ahead of its rival John Wyer Porsche and an incredible 29 laps (386km) ahead of the third place Ferrari. The two Porsches at the front were the first cars to cover over 5000km at Le Mans, a record that would stand for 39 years, cementing the 917’s dominance over this era of motorsport.

One of our most exciting model developments for 2022 the Daytona SP3 is described by Ferrari as the essence of racing spirit. It pays homage to the 1960s mid-rear-engined Ferrari V12 sports prototypes that earned Ferrari its unparalleled motor sport status. In particular the design of the car echoes the iconic 330 P4 which in the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona took victory for Ferrari with an astonishing 1-2-3 finish.

GMA T.50: At 1:8 scale
With our strong connections to McLaren, and having modelled the McLaren F1 and F1 GTR as well as the MP4/4, we are tremendously excited by the opportunity to work with Gordon Murray creating the reference level model at 1:8 of the T.50. The most driver-centric supercar ever built, the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 intends to rewrite the rulebook. Based on the same principles as the Murray-designed McLaren F1 in the 90s, the T.50 features the most advanced aerodynamics ever seen on a road car, the most power dense naturally-aspirated V12 engine ever fitted to a road car and the world's lightest supercar gearbox, all in a package weighing half a tonne less than the average supercar. McLaren Arrows: At 1:8 scale and as a miniature sculpture
We can now reveal more details about our new partnership with IndyCar that will see us develop and build the NTT IndyCar Series Car at 1:8 scale. The NTT IndyCar Series offers its international line-up of drivers one of the most diverse challenges in open wheel racing, featuring racing at a combination of superspeedways, short ovals, road courses and temporary street circuits.
We are currently developing a 1:8 scale model of the car in 2021 series livery. The first models are expected to be available in May. We are in advanced discussions with the Arrow McLaren SP team to produce models carrying the team's livery and expect this to be the first of many teams that will collaborate with us. A new miniature sculpture is in also development, launching prior to the Indy 500 in May.
This new collection will be added to the website closer to the launch, allowing customers to then register their interest.
