The 1965 running of Le Mans was undoubtedly the highlight of the 250 LM’s stellar racing career, though even the most devout of Tifosi would have acknowledged the victory was a surprise. It was set to be the first real battle between Ford and Ferrari, and the Americans arrived with no fewer than six GT40s, two of which were equipped with colossal seven litre engines. Ferrari’s three works and seven privateer entries may have outnumbered Ford, but they were all vastly underpowered. The #21 North American Racing Team entry, piloted by Masten Gregory and Jochen Rindt, qualified down in eleventh position, a full 12 seconds off the pace, and never looked like being involved in a fight for a podium, let alone a victory.
Ford started the race strongly but, by a quarter distance, not one of their entries remained. Ferrari’s own entries started to deplete and the drivers were struggling. As the morning dawned the #21 car of Gregory and Rindt found themselves in second place, two laps behind the leader, a privateer 250 LM with a far slower crew. The works Ferrari was gaining five seconds a lap on the front-runner, leaving the spectators expecting a potential photo finish, right up until a tyre on the Belgian car exploded at high speed on the Mulsanne Straight. Despite their own problems with a fragile differential, Rindt and Gregory cruised to victory, finishing a full five laps clear.

This exclusive edition of 1:8 scale models replicate the Mercedes-Benz W196 Monoposto as raced by the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio in the 1955 British Grand Prix at Aintree Motor Racing Circuit on the 16th of July 1955. Limited to just five pieces, the weathering details on each model will be precisely applied and meticulously painted by the artisans in our Bristol workshop using archival imagery. Due to the curtailing of the Formula 1 season in the wake of the Le Mans disaster, Fangio's points advantage after Aintree was sufficient to secure his third World Drivers' Championship.

Porsche 917 KH
The 1971 Le Mans Winner
This Race Weathered 1:8 scale perfectly replicates Porsche 917 KH chassis 917-053, as raced to victory by Gijs van Lennep and Helmut Marko in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on the 12th and 13th of June 1971. Development of the model took over 4000 hours and only concluded once the experts at Porsche were fully satisfied with the accuracy of representation. The team in Bristol referred to archival imagery to ensure the completed model is a faithful replica of the real car raced in 1971, from the oils stains and mud that adorned the bright white livery, right down to the car’s damaged front left corner and missing headlight cover.

Ferrari 330 P4
1967 Le Mans Class Winner
This special edition of 21 Race Weathered models is based on the Ferrari 330 P4 that earned class victory in the 1967 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Hand assembled from thousands of precisely engineered parts, including openable doors and engine cover, each 1:8 scale model has been hand painted by our artisans to show every detail of the race dirt that adorned the real car at the end of 24 hours of gruelling competition in the hands of Ludovico Scarfiotti and Mike Parkes. The model was developed using data from a digital scan of the only perfect example of the 330 P4 left in existence, that has not suffered crash damage or major modification. The prototype model has been scrutinised by Ferrari Classiche to ensure complete accuracy.

Audi R8
Audi’s fifth 24 Hours of Le Mans win
Created to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Audi’s fifth 24 Hours of Le Mans win, this special Race Weathered edition of Audi R8 models perfectly captures the car that was victorious on the 19th of June 2005 in the hands of Tom Kristensen, JJ Lehto and Marco Werner. It was Werner's first Le Mans victory, Lehto's second and Kristensen's seventh. Kristensen surpassed Jacky Ickx's all-time record of six overall Le Mans wins to become the most successful Le Mans driver of all time, whist Werner became only the eighth driver to earn the Triple Crown of Endurance Racing (overall wins in the 24 Hours of Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans).
